Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the LibLatch mobile application and related services operated by LibLatch (“we,” “us,” or “LibLatch”). By using LibLatch, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Introduction
LibLatch helps you save book discoveries and check availability at selected public library catalogs (currently New York and San Francisco areas supported in the app). LibLatch is provided as a beta product and may change, pause, or discontinue features at any time.
2. User Accounts
LibLatch does not require a traditional account with email or password. The app creates an anonymous identifier stored on your device so your shelf can be retrieved. You are responsible for activity associated with that device identifier. You may clear your shelf or reset the anonymous session from in-app Settings when those controls are available. You must be able to lawfully use the app in your jurisdiction and follow any age or parental rules that apply to you.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use LibLatch only for personal, lawful purposes. You must not:
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape, or reverse engineer LibLatch or its backends beyond ordinary personal use.
- Submit private, confidential, or infringing content, or content you do not have permission to share.
- Use social import features to collect personal data about others or to violate Instagram, TikTok, or library terms.
- Misrepresent library holdings or use LibLatch to circumvent library rules.
Library availability shown in LibLatch can be delayed or incomplete. Always confirm details in your library’s official catalog before visiting or placing a hold.
4. Intellectual Property
LibLatch, including its name, branding, and app design, is owned by LibLatch or its licensors. Book metadata, cover images, and catalog information may be provided by third parties and remain subject to their rights and terms. You retain rights in content you lawfully provide (such as notes or tags you create), and you grant LibLatch a limited license to process that content solely to operate the service for you.
5. Limitation of Liability
LibLatch is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, LibLatch and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost books, travel costs, or library hold issues arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for LibLatch in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) zero dollars if LibLatch is provided free of charge.
